TONIGHT: In-Store w/ Death Songs 7pm!!

Nick Delffs the man behind Death Songs chose such a name knowing that every song could potentially be his last--now that may seem kinda morbid and a bummer but sonically it produces the antithesis of that ideal. While the lyrical content somewhat represents this realistic view of life and death, it is something that is not overtly present and in your face but rather simple undertone that adds an unconventional mortal beauty to music. This self-titled Death Songs EP was released last year but Death Songs formed in Portland in the Summer of 2007 and released a self-titled cassette in 2009. Originally forming between Nicholas and Nathan Delffs when their other, more widely known band, The Shaky Hands were not touring or recording. Nathan has since left, but currently Justin Power completes the duo. See you tonight! Let's get weird.

TONIGHT: In-store w/ The Blind Shake 7pm

The Blind Shake, a trio consisting of brothers Mike and Jim Blaha as well as longtime buddy Dave Roper, hail  from Minneapolis, MN. The Blind Shake released their album "Seriousness" last year and now will rock the OV loft with their self-described "detuned, garage-stomp, noisy punk rock music." The Blind Shake are no rookies, releasing their first 7" Old Lines, Sore Bones, in 2004 by Fort Gezzepi---the band has since released Rizzograph (2005), Carmel (2007), and a split 7” with Birthday Suits (2008) all on Learning Curve Records. When a band is known for ferocious live shows and home recorded albums, this is a show you do not want to miss! See you tonight!

TONIGHT: In-Store w/ Bright Beast 7pm!

I love when music spawns from late night recording sessions and Bright Beast is one these success stories. Formed just last year in 2011, Bright Beast have just released their self-titled 12" EP and will be performing tonight in the loft at 7pm! This beast of the night is the child of Randolph Williams III (One Trick Pony) and Christian Biel (The Transmissions), but now has expanded to six other musicians from various LA bands. Described byCrack in the Road UK  as "Driven by brooding bass lines and a steady percussion section, (war paint) comes across like a more funky almost tribal inspired Interpol whilst (camera) could easily pass for an early TV on the Radio single." Yeah you don't want to miss this one! See you tonight!

There is going to be SO MANY cool things to do/see so make sure to pick up a map and enjoy all the great things about a neighborhood event! Heck, even make an all day party out of it and spend sometime getting to know your local businesses while celebrating all aspects of art! Origami Vinyl will be having an in-store performance by Alexandra and the Starlight Band at 8pm, a delightful and soulful way to end your night (or continue the fun)! Also artwork from Owleyes will be on display inside the shop and maybe even a guest appearance by Mr.Owleyes himself?? We love being part of this community and look forward to tomorrow!
